Youthful Programs

These programs address issues that concern the youth in Uganda today such as employment, health, Education, recreation. These programs contribute to the provision of care and support for orphaned youth through a range of activities. These include; Youths are trained as peer educators in various youth related issues to educate fellow orphans, group counseling sessions are conducted in communities so the youth are supported through group peer counseling, Youths are treated for STDs and HIV opportunistic infections, Youths are encouraged to access voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) services, IEC materials are produced and disseminated about youth related issues, involvement of mass media organizations in the promotion of care and support towards the orphaned youth, holding advocacy meetings, facilitating formation of youth clubs for example FYO's own most popular club-earthquakes, support setting up of income generating activities, carry out activities geared towards increasing awareness for referral system for HIV/AIDS services, improvement in the standard of living of the youth among others.

Some of the objectives of this program include

  • Creation of employment opportunities for the youth.
  • Increase incomes of youth.
  • HIV/AIDS prevention among the youth.
  • Reduction in rate of chronic illness of AIDS orphans (youth) due to sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS opportunistic infections.
  • To provide psychological support to youths who are living with HIV virus.
  • Create awareness and increase knowledge on sexual and reproductive health - Protect and enhance youth's ability to manage their reproductive health.
  • Provision of practical skills to the youth (orphans) who are school drop outs.
