Why your Help is needed

Orphans have emotional scars that may go with them throughout their lifetime. Some scars are deeper than others. Some orphans have an "inner strength" to move out of the negative emotions. Others never do. Many orphans grow up with lingering feelings of not belonging to anyone. There is a strong desire to be accepted. There is also a sense of separation, of longing - always searching for an identity rather than being labeled an orphan - an outcast.

One of the saddest results of the AIDS epidemic is the orphans that are left in its wake. These children are left especially vulnerable, with few resources or laws in place to protect their interests; they are often left to fend for themselves. Older children become the caregivers of younger siblings, forcing them from their schooling. More than a third of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Uganda drop out of school. The future of these AIDS orphans is bleak. But there is hope.

The well-being of needy orphaned children has always been and remains a focus of FYO.

Children are precious, entrusted to us to care for and nurture. Yet sadly, many orphaned children live in extreme hardship with little food to eat, no access to health services, clean water or even a roof over their head.

It is not hard to see why your help is so important:
