Community relations

Government bodies

Upon considering how FYO comes into being one will see that the exchange and co-operation with several external partners is necessary and important: One condition is good contact to government bodies. Quite often representatives of the respective government get in touch with FYO to find out how we are moving on with our projects.

The local community

In case the educational, social or medical infrastructure of this community is insufficient, Foundation for Young Orphans works together with the local authorities to find out what is needed and whether FYO can provide it. This co-operation guarantees that ancillary facilities such as schools, social or medical centers meet the needs of the local population. Once these facilities are up and running it's only natural that the dialogue with the people who attend them is promoted and supported: e.g. the parents of the children who attend School are invited to participate in extracurricular activities.

Youth welfare and biological family

Another important partner are the youth welfare authorities. They play an essential part in the decision-making process as to whether a child is admitted to FYO. So FYO keeps these authorities informed on the possibilities and advantages of FYO but also on its limits.

If the youth welfare authorities decide that FYO is the best solution for a child, his biological relatives are included in the admission process as well. The youth welfare authorities are constantly kept up-to-date on the child's development. Furthermore, the contact between the child and his biological family is promoted and supported as long as it is to the advantage of the child.
